Following the start of the 2019-23 ECA Membership Cycle, Lina Souloukou, General Manager at Olympiacos FC, has been appointed to sit as an observer on the ECA Executive Board in a newly developed role as Diversity Representative.

At the Special General Assembly in June 2019, ECA Member Clubs voted unanimously to promote diversity and inclusion in football as a statutory objective of ECA. Further to this, ECA adopted statutory changes which would see the appointment of a Diversity Representative as an observer to the Executive Board. Lina Souloukou will be responsible for developing, driving and overseeing the implementation of practices aimed at widening the overall diversity within ECA.

Commenting on her appointment, Lina Souloukou stated:

“I am deeply honoured to have been appointed Diversity Representative by my peers on the ECA Executive Board and am looking forward to leading ECA’s work in this area over the coming cycle to ensure we meet the challenge of making our organisation more diverse and inclusive. As the representative voice of clubs within the international football landscape, ECA is responsible for developing and enhancing the professional club game. I believe placing diversity at the core of ECA’s activities will help us achieve these objectives.”

Following the appointment, ECA Chairman Andrea Agnelli commented:

"On behalf of the entire Board, I’m delighted that Lina Souloukou has agreed to take up the role of Diversity Representative and will join Amra Peternel as the second woman on our Board. The decision to introduce this position within the Board is testimony of ECA’s and my personal commitment to ensuring that our organisation is better equipped to exploit the benefits of having greater diversity within club football. I am confident Lina will bring her experience and know-how in this area, to the benefit of both ECA and its membership, which, in turn, will optimise the quality of the industry as a whole."
