At its General Assembly in Budapest, ECA Member and Network Clubs were asked to bring with them a signed club jersey to be auctioned in support of the ECA Relief Fund. More than 200 shirts have been received from 175 clubs and now they will be put up for auction online from 3 to 17 June 2023. United with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the initiative aims to support 18.5 million impacted by the Türkiye-Syria earthquakes.

The auction includes signed shirts from some of Europe's top men’s and women’s clubs and players including Liverpool FC, Manchester United FC, Club Atlético de Madrid, FC Internazionale Milano, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Bayern München and more.

ECA is collaborating with global fundraiser MatchWornShirt who will host the online auction with all proceeds going to UNHCR, the UN refugee agency that is providing aid and support to those affected by the recent earthquakes.

In addition, and as agreed at its Executive Board Meeting in March in Milan, ECA will also donate €500,000 on behalf of its clubs, which will be directed to the UNHCR for its ongoing earthquake appeal.

ECA Member and Network Clubs are being asked to actively promote the auction on their social networks, ensuring wider outreach and contributing to the success of this initiative.

ECA CEO, Charlie Marshall, said: “This is an unparalleled event with shirts from 175 clubs across European football being made available for auction online to fans and collectors alike. To ensure the success of this auction, we need the support of the entire ECA family to help spread the word and generate maximum participation. As clubs have direct access to a large and engaged audience on their digital platforms, we are requesting our member clubs’ assistance in promoting this unique auction and the fans’ active participation to make it a success.

The money raised will be used by UNHCR to help support the victims of the recent earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria and follows similar support by ECA to assist displaced children and families from the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis via the ECA Ukraine Relief Fund.
