Representatives from ECA, EPFL, FIFPro Division Europe and national players unions gathered today at the European Commission in Brussels for a Plenary Meeting as part of the EU Social Dialogue.
The EU Social Dialogue is a platform offered by the European Commission for representatives from both employees and employers of a specific industry to discuss and agree on social and labour conditions on a European Union level. The EU Social Dialogue in professional football was created in 2008. ECA alongside EPFL represents the employers, while employees are being represented by FIFPro Division Europe.
Chaired by UEFA, today's meeting was mainly used to update all stakeholders on the work undertaken by the three working groups, which are dealing with topics such as the Implementation of the "Autonomous Agreement", Respect of Contracts and Career Funds respectively.
The Working Group on the Implementation of the "Autonomous Agreement" aims at supporting stakeholders to agree on the integration of professional football contract minimum requirements as per the Autonomous Agreement signed between the EU Social Dialogue Partners back in April 2012. The Working Group on "Respect of Contracts" primarily discusses how the principle of respect of contracts could be strengthened whilst the "Career Funds" Working Group examines the possibility of establishing career funds across Europe.
Furthermore, in addition to a presentation by the European Commission on the developments of the EU Sports Policy, the Social Dialogue Partners discussed and agreed on the Work Programme for 2015.
