Today, the 16th Edition of the AFC Asian Cup kicked off in Australia. Traditionally, the European Club Association has conducted a research showing the overall situation of players released by European clubs for the tournament.

- 13.1% of the AFC Asian Cup players (48 players from a total of 367) currently play in one of the European National Championships
