ECA Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (FC Bayern München) and ECA Executive Board Member Andrea Agnelli (Juventus) today represented ECA for the first time at the UEFA Executive Committee.
Their attendance at the meeting held in Malta follows the decision of the UEFA Congress in March 2015 to ratify a proposal to allow stakeholder representation in the UEFA Executive Committee.
As part of the renewed Memorandum of Understanding between ECA and UEFA signed earlier this year, ECA joins the UEFA Executive Committee with two representatives as "co-opted" members. The presence of club representatives as full members with voting rights will, in principle, be implemented at the next UEFA Congress, pending the necessary statutory changes.
The inclusion of club representatives at UEFA's top table is a major achievement for ECA and a strong statement of UEFA's commitment to modern and dynamic governance models. It also acknowledges the clubs' importance to the European Game.
