ECA Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge meets Poland's Minister for Sports

As Poland takes over the Presidency of the EU, ECA is keen to engage directly with its Government and provide it with the clubs' views on a number of issues and hear about possible action the Polish presidency may seek to undertake in these areas. Discussions proved engaging and lively and touched upon a number of key issues of importance, most notably the issue of Governance.

Commenting on the meeting, ECA Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated:

     "Today's meeting was an extremely useful exercise. I welcome Mr Giersz's willingness to listen carefully to ECA and hear about our views relating to a number of key issues. As we look to take forward club football, I'm confident that under the Polish Presidency the EU will be able to play a complementary role in supporting stakeholders to achieve an even more dynamic and successful game across Europe."

In response, Mr. Giersz added:

     "I'm very happy to welcome Mr. Rummenigge and the ECA delegation to Warsaw today. As we embark on the EU Presidency, it is important to engage and speak to all stakeholders and hear their views on the day-to-day realities they are faced with. In that sense I have learned a lot today from speaking to the clubs who are major contributors to the game."

ECA will continue to engage with the EU and its Member State Governments in the coming months as they look to develop policies in the area of sports.
