Biography:

Michael Gerlinger was born on 7 February 1973. Graduate of the “FIFA-Master-Course” in Law, Management and Humanities of Sport (Leicester, Milan, Neuchâtel) in 2002, he started working as a lawyer in sports law at Taylor Wessing law firm in Munich, in particular in numerous cases at FIFA arbitration and CAS. He is author of various articles on the law of football in the International Sports Law Journal ISLJ, contributing author of “Sports Image Rights in Europe” and editor and author of “Sportrecht in der Praxis”.

Michael Gerlinger was appointed Director Legal Affairs of FC Bayern München AG in 2005, Prokurist (Authorized Officer) in 2009 and Director Legal Affairs, Human Resources and Institutional Relations in 2013. Since the creation of ECA in 2008, he has been acting on behalf of the organisation in various roles, first as a managing director ad interim, then as representative of ECA in the European Social Dialogue in Professional Football and Vice-Chairman of the ECA Legal Advisory Panel. In 2017, he was appointed a member of the UEFA Club Competitions Committee. Following the creation of the UEFA Club Competitions S.A., Michael Gerlinger was appointed managing director legal and business affairs.
