ECA Media Release

The ECA Executive Board decided at its meeting in Moscow on the 27th of November to appoint Arsenal FC CEO Ivan Gazidis as ECA representative on the UEFA Professional Football Strategy Council. Consequently, he will also take up a seat on the ECA Executive Board.

This appointment comes following the decision of David Gill (CEO of Manchester United FC) to step down from his position on the ECA Executive Board. David Gill recently announced his candidacy for election to the UEFA Executive Committee in the coming year.

Ivan Gazidis has been actively involved within ECA since its creation in 2008. He is currently chairman of the ECA Legal Advisory Panel and member of the ECA Competitions Working Group.

Commenting on the appointment of Ivan Gazidis, ECA Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said:

"I am pleased to welcome Ivan Gazidis on the ECA Executive Board. His experience and distinct football knowledge will add a lot of value to ECA and European club football as a whole. At the same time, I would like to thank David Gill for his invaluable contribution to ECA over the last three years. On behalf of the ECA Executive Board, I wish him all the best for his future professional and personal life."

Ivan Gazidis said:

"I am delighted to be joining these important groups which are hugely influential in the future direction of the game in Europe. I am looking forward to representing the top European clubs in many important debates as we move ahead."
