ECA Membership Services Manager Olivier Jarosz with some participants of the ECA Conference
ECA Membership Services Manager, Olivier Jarosz, took the floor today in a conference on Youth Development organised by ECA, in cooperation with the Galatasaray University in Istanbul, to illustrate some outcomes of the ECA Report on Youth Academies in Europe.
The conference notably saw the presentations of the 'FC Schalke 04 Knappenschmiede' by Bodo Menze, ECA Youth Task Force member, as well as of 'l'Académie de Olympique Lyonnais'. Additionally, an extensive explanation on neurodidactics, the well-known Brain Centered Learning currently in place at AC Milan, was provided by leading experts in the sector.
The event, which proved to be very educational and saw the presence of Youth Academy directors, youth coaches and students, was a good opportunity for ECA to share knowledge with smaller clubs and amateur coaches, and exchange views with academics. Important challenges faced by European academies were equally analysed.
Galatasaray University, the conference co-organising institution, was founded in 1992 by an international treaty signed between Turkey and France and is a state university where teaching is done in French. It is the first and only Turkish institution of higher education established by an international charter and subject to the Turkish Legislation of Higher Education.
The ECA Report, launched in 2012, coincides with the increasing investments of clubs in the sector. It outlines and compares different approaches and philosophies of some of the top academies across the continent, acting as a benchmark for all clubs thinking about investing in youth development.
